Tool Making
In order to efficiently and, at the same time, precisely carry out prototype or short-run productions, it's necessary to be able to create forming tools in the shortest time possible.
For this purpose, Volke shapes model parts using oil sand, and then casts this mould with
a low-melting alloy (MCP 137). In this way, a forming tool is created that may not be as robust as a steel mould, yet is sufficiently stabile to deliver thousands of pressings with precise results. If the workpieces, however, are very complex, Volke mills the stamping-, drawing-, and restriking dies in steel or special plastic in accordance with the CAD-data. All of the parts, which, because of the limited numbers to be produced cannot be made with forming tools, are made by hand. International specialists, experienced modelers, and tool makers use technical drawings to create body parts for the initial design, concept vehicles, prototypes, and short-run series.
