Fields of Vision and Mirror Measurements

Safe all the way around.  On our own test benches, using strong light sources, 3D coordinate measuring machines, and lasers, Volke determines the indirect field of vision for the rear view, as well as the radius of curvature of mirrored surfaces.  The risk of injury to bike riders and pedestrians after contact with the outside mirrors is considerably reduced by their folding mechanisms.  We test these folding mechanisms with pendulum impact tests.  Volke also tests the mirror protective casing with respect to the required protective function that the mirror glass not splinter.  The main authority for these studies is the statute EWG 71/127 and FMVSS 111 (rearview mirror of motor vehicles).  In addition, adherence to design specifications and type approval documentation are checked.
