Pedestrian Protection Testing

To reduce the risks of injury to pedestrians in a collision with a vehicle, Volke carries out extensive studies in our in-house testing facility.  This includes impact tests in accordance with the 2004/90/EU-Guideline, EEVC WG17, EuroNCAP, and ACEA.  The frontal surface of the vehicle is shot at with various impactors, for example, with a leg impactor which is fired at a speed of 40 km/h against the bumper, or a hip impactor which is fired at a speed of 40 km/h against the leading edge of the hood, as well as various head impactors which hit the hood at 35 to 40 km/h.  Volke analyzes and interprets the measurement results into usable improvement options.  In the area of pedestrian protection, Volke offers the complete development package, including design, calculation, and testing.
