Just how well an airbag protects occupants from injuries in an accident is well known, and is proven again and again through airbag inflation tests and crash tests. So that passengers who are sitting "out of position" aren't injured when the airbag is released, Volke carries out extensive airbag inflation testing in accordance with FMVSS 208. The goal is always to minimize risks during deployment. Using various dummies, the airbags on the driver's- and passenger's sides are tested, in the process analyzing the head and chest acceleration, the degree of chest compression, the tensile and pressure loads on the neck, as well as all of the effects on the area of the cervical vertebrae.
